Excellent Way of practising for exam

I remember that when i was young my teacher used to give me practice tests. Wonder why are they not prevalent today. However, i got to practice for GPEN certificate exam in this manner. Mock tests online were quite helpful to make me realize my standing in the actual GIAC Penetration Tester exam and cleard it with 81% finally.
